Christensen & Rafferty Fine Jewelry and our neighbors down the hall, Mortgage Services, paired up to showcase four beautiful wines at this year’s 18th Annual San Mateo Wine Walk. Taking place in the foyer of 181 Second Avenue San Mateo, California, we called our tasting room Mélange of Tastes. We loved being able to meet so many new wonderful people and we hope you come and visit us on the Second Floor in Suite 242!

To recap the day at our tasting room, Mélange of Tastes, everyone got together and enjoyed a wine lounge ambiance complete with:

  • An Angelique de Paris bracelet drawing
  • Lounge seating area where people could stop, relax and enjoy the wines
  • Block 34 prepared delectable Deviled Eggs and yummy crostini
  • And fun music!

This may have been our first year pouring at Wine Walk, but it won’t be our last! We will be back next year for sure!

Lots of people have contacted us asking what wines they tasted, so we have listed the wines below. For those who could not attend, we highly recommend these and they had a great response from the crowd!

Mélange of Tastes

Pouring list at 18th Annual Wine Walk in Downtown San Mateo

2013 Hogwash Rose, California

100% Rose of Grenache – very Provencial in style. The nose is a perfect marriage of piquant gooseberry, ripe canary melon pencil lead and wet granite. Bone dry on the palate, the striking mineral notes intermingle beautifully with flavors of lime curd and orange rind.

2011 Broquel Malbec, Argentina

Wine Spectator – 90 Points

This wine with its deep ruby hues gives off heady aromas of red and black fruit. Also expect classic notes of spice, vanilla and fairly smooth tannins

2013 Charles Krug Sauvignon Blanc, Napa

Wine Enthusiast 90 Points – A classic Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, buzzing in margarita-ready lime, grapefruit pith and sweet jasmine, with a nuance of grassy underbrush.

2012 Langhe Arneis,  Pertinace Italia

Composed of 100% hand-harvested Arneis grapes grown within the spectacular hills of the Langhe region. Pertinace Langhe Arneis D.O.C. is a crisp, complex, well-balanced white with fresh notes of wild flowers, honeysuckle, and melon that build to an elegant, lingering finish. Enjoy on its own, and with appetizers, fresh seafood, white meats and creamy cheeses.
